ქრისტეს დახმარებითა და წმიდა თეოდორეს შუამდგომლობით შეწყალებულ იქნეს ანტონი მამა (წინამძღოლი) და იოსია, ამ მოზაიკის მომსხმელი (მომსხმევინებელი) და იოსიას მშობლები.

With the blessing of Christ and assistance of Saint Theodore, let there be mercy on Father Anton (high priest) and Iosia, the creator of this mosaic and the parents of him.

წარწერის პირველი პუბლიკაცია ეკუთვნის მიხეილ თარხნიშვილს. მან მიუთითა, რომ თეოდორე არის IV საუკუნის მოწამე თეოდორე ტირონი. მანვე შენიშნა, რომ ანტონი აბაჲ ცნობილია წმიდა მართას, სვიმეონ მესვეტის დედის, ცხოვრებიდან. გიორგი წერეთელმა განსაკუთრებული ყურადღება მიაქცია პალესტინის წარწერებს. იგი მიიჩნევდა, რომ წმიდა თეოდორეს სახელობის მონასტერი პეტრე იბერიელმა V საუკუნის 30-იან წლებში და მანვე შეამკო იგი ქართული წარწერებით. ანტონის წმინდა ნაწილები მიუტანია სვიმონ მესვეტესთან 552 წელს, მართას გარდაცვალებისა და სვიმეონის სვეტზე ასვლიდან ერთი წლის შემდეგ. 553 წლიდან ანტონი სელევკიის ეპისკოპოსია. გიორგი წერეთელმა მიუთითა, რომ „მართას ცხოვრების“ მიხედვით, 552 წელს ანტონი ჯერ კიდევ საქართელოში იყო და იგი ვერ შეძლებდა პალესტინის ქართული მონასტრის წარწერა გაეკეთებინა. შესაბამისად, ეს წარწერა 532-552 წლებით თარიღდება. იოსია, რომელიც ამ წარწერაშია მოხსენიებული, სხვა წერილობითი წყაროებისათვის უცნობია. იგი მიაჩნიათ იმ პირად, ვისაც ანტონი წინამძღოლმა მოასხმევინა სეფი, ანუ გააკეთებინა მოზაიკა. უფრო საფიქრებელია, რომ იოსია იყო ის პირი, რომელმაც სახსრები გაიღო მოზაიკის იატაკის გასაკეთებლად.

The inscription was first published by Mikheil Tarkhnishvili. He noted that Theodore mentioned in the inscription is Saint Theodore Tyron, a IV century martyr. He also pointed out that Anton Aba is known from the life of St Martha, mother of Simeon Stylites. Giorgi Tsereteli provided detailed analysis of the Palestine inscriptions and suggested that: Peter the Iberian had built the St. Theodore Monastery in the 30s of the V century and embellished it with the Georgian inscriptions; Peter the Iberian had brought the sacred relics Anton to Simeon Stylites in 552, after the death of Martha and one year later after Simeon became a hermit on the pillar. From the year 553 Anton was the Bishop of Seleucia. In connection to this Giorgi Tsereteli pointed out that according to “The life of Martha”, Anton was in Georgia in 552 and he would not be able to make any inscription in the Georgian monastery in Palestine. Thus, this inscription can be dated to 532-552. Iosia who is named in this inscription is not known from any other source. He is regarded to be the master who made the mosaic under the supervision of high priest Anton. It is also possible that Iosia is the person who covered the costs of the mosaic floor.
