Text: Two line inscription. The embossed figure of “Bolnisi Cross” is embedded in a medallion with a frame like braided rope. The crossbars are simple. The inscription is carved below the cross to the left. cm

Findspot: Lamazi Gora, Bolnisi The monument was discovered by the archeological expedition of Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History supervised by I. Grdzelishvili. The hill that the locals call “Lamazi Gora” (a beautiful hill) is located 800 meters from Bolnisi Sioni Cathedral to the north-west. During the excavations of the hill the ruins of three-church basilica was found in the middle of it. The territory of the monastery could have been 1000 sq m. Up to ten stone crosses with Asomtavruli inscriptions were found in this territory. The monument was discovered in 1959.

Commentary

According to the Corpus of Georgian Inscriptions by Nodar Shoshiashvili the inscription #19. The inscription does not contain any mark of separation or abbreviation. Only three graphemes are present.
